9 days Tour on Naxos & Santorini Island
The Cyclades are among the most beautiful islands in the world. Getting to know them by boat, on foot or by public transportation is a unique experience! This ‘off the beaten track’ program allows enough free time for a stroll through lovely villages or a cool dip in the azure blue Aegean sea.
Day 1 Arrival in Athens
Welcome at the airport, transfer to hotel, pm discover the historical center of Ancient Athens on foot and visit of the Acropolis and its new museum. Dinner in a local tavern.
Day 2 Ferry boat to isle of Naxos
Early breakfast and transfer to the port, embarkation on the ferry to Naxos. Around 13.00 hours arrival and time for lunch. Exploration of the beautiful town of Naxos and time for a swim at one of the nice beaches. Enjoy the sunset over the ruins of the Apollo temple and dinner at a local tavern.
Day 3 The Kouroi walking tour and the green valley of Potamia
Transfer per bus/taxi to the village of Melanes and start of our walk to the ancient quarries of Naxos with the forgotten Kouroi-statues. Passing some unspoiled villages and pick-nick on the way. Visit the remains of the ancient cathedral of Aghios Mamas and transfer back to hotel (possibility of a quick peak at the temple of Demeter).

Day 4 Walking along the Riverside
Starting from the mountain village of Kinidaros, this walk will take us 5 hours through a fertile valley and along the most water-abundant river of Naxos to the birthplace of Dionysus, god of wine , Engares. In springtime we actually encounter a waterfall, most unique on the dry islands of the Cyclades. On the way we pass several small churches and end our walk at Mrs. Stella, who welcomes us with a home-cooked meal. Visit an ancient olive-press. Free time in the afternoon, farewell dinner of Naxos.
Day 5 One day excursion by boat to cosmopolitan Myconos [Optional] Optional is the one day excursion by boat to cosmopolitan Myconos and the archaeological site of Delos, one of the most impressive ancient cities in the Mediterranean. Farewell dinner with music and overnight in Naxos.
Day 6 Ferry boat to Santorini and walking the great Calder
Fresh start of the day with a healthy breakfast, morning visit to the small but interesting archaeological museum of Chora, embarkation on the ferry to Santorini, lunch on board. After arrival we walk from Oia, village under protection of UNESCO, over the rim of the volcano in 3 hours to the capital Fira. This is an incredible hike along the Cliffside of the Caldera!! After a fresh up in our hotel, we’ll dine at a remote and exclusive restaurant in the village of Megalochori.
Day 7 Exploring the unknown “Spartan city of Thira”
Start of the day in the beautiful village of Pirgos. A steep hike will bring us to the top of mount Profitis Elias from where we descend to archaeological site of Thira, highly located on the top of Mesovounio. It is an interesting place in a stunning surrounding. Hike down to the black pebbled beach of Perissa, time for lunch and relaxation. Local transportation back to the hotel and dinner at a small tavern.
Day 8 Visit of the pre-historical site of Akrotiri, boat-trip to the volcano and hot springs, Hiking the volcano
The morning we’ll spend at the ancient site of Akrotiri also known as “ The lost city of Atlantis”, which will be finally opening up to the public in 2012. After lunch we’ll take the cable-car to the port of Fira and board a small caique to sail to the volcano. It’s a long but interesting hike up, with magnificent views over the caldera. We’ll have time for a dip in the hot springs and after returning to the hotel will enjoy a warm farewell dinner in a local tavern.
Day 9 End of tour
Transfer to the International airport of Santorini.
